Bronze Roman Wedding Ring Handfast, Fede, Clasped Hands, Marriage. Found by a metal detectorist in Eastern Europe. Circa 1st to 4th Century AD. The "handfast" marriage can be traced back to the Roman times "Dextrarum iunctio" which appears on Roman tombstones, and which appears to be echoed in medieval images of the Marriage of the Virgin. Most scholars feel that the legal tradition of "handfasting" from roman days can be traced to its usage in ritual of a christian marriage. Professionally cleaned. See before and after cleaning photos showing the items original patina and thus the true authenticity. It is perfectly wearable.
